Aquinas Stays Perfect in WHAC Play

10/05/2013 – The women's soccer team extended their conference unbeaten streak to three as they defeated Madonna 1-0. The Saints are now 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in league play, while the Crusades fell to 4-6-1 overall and to 1-2 in the WHAC. Aquinas currently sits tied for first place in the league standings with Davenport.

After a scoreless first half the Saints broke the ice with a goal off a Mikayla Goldsmith corner kick during the 64th minute of play. Cami Baker, a product of East Kentwood High School, delivered the games only score off the assist by Goldsmith. Baker's third goal of the season keeps the Saints in the hunt for the regular season WHAC title.

Molly O'Connor was credited with the shutout victory as she stopped all five of the Crusaders shots on goal. Overall the Saints outshot Madonna 14-11.

The victory sets up a showdown with the top two teams in the WHAC. The Saints will now host #7 Davenport (10-1, 3-0 WHAC) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. with first place in the league on the line.
