10/27/2013 – The women's soccer team used a 4-0 shutout of Lawrence Tech to inch one step closer to hosting a first round tournament match. The Saints improved to 5-2-1 in the WHAC and to 10-5-1 overall, while the Blue Devils fell to 6-9 on the season and to 1-7 in league play. Aquinas is currently sitting in third place in the WHAC standings.
Aquinas protected their home turf and finished the week holding their opponents scoreless in 200 minutes of action. Elizabeth Vaughan had a career day all in the matter of a twelve minute stretch during the first half. Goals in the 10th, 18th and 22nd minute brought Vaughan's season total to eight. Freshman Leeann Latsch and Cami Baker were credited with assists on the first and third of Vaughan's goals. Casey Westveer brought the goal total to four in the second half as she recorded her third of the season off a corner kick.
Molly O'Connor was credited with the victory as she recorded four saves. The Saints out shot the Blue Devils 31-5.
Aquinas will concluded the regular season with a road date at Marygrove (3-14, 0-8 WHAC) on Saturday.
