10/27/2013 – The men's soccer team continues to build momentum with the WHAC Tournament looming in the not so distant future. The Saints 3-1 victory over Siena Heights improved their record to 6-3 in the league and to 14-3 overall. Aquinas has outscored their opponents 16-4 during their current winning streak and are holding onto the third spot in the league standings.
After a scoreless first half, Johnathan Spencer broke the ice and recorded his ninth goal of the season in the 51st minute of play. Aldony Mendez was credited with the assist on the match's first goal. A little over a minute later Siena Heights quickly found the equalizer. A goal by Collin McLaughlin at the 51:14 mark tied the score at one. The scoring flurry continued in the 58th minute as Mendez netted an unassisted goal to run his season total to 16. The insurance goal came via Tucker Hogarth's foot in the 87th minute of play. Hogarth's first goal of the season was assisted on by Michael Gagnon.
Craig Demshuk was awarded the victory as he stopped three of four shots on goal. Aquinas out shot Siena Heights 16-9.
Aquinas will conclude the regular season portion of their schedule with a road date at Concordia (6-10-1, 3-6 WHAC) on Saturday.
