10/30/2013 – The women's basketball team opened the 2013-14 season with a convincing win over the College of Calumet St. Joseph. The victory gives the Saints a 1-0 record on the season, while the Crimson Wave fell to 0-1 overall.
A balanced attack paced the Saints throughout the first test of the season. The double-double effort turned in by Allison Heberlein spearheaded the opening night win by Aquinas. Heberlein's 17 points coupled with 14 rebounds proved vital in assisting in the Saints cause. Chelsea Matley recorded 14 points, while Brooklynne Lane tallied eleven points in eleven minutes of play. The Saints outshot the Crimson Wave 39%-32% and held a distinct advantage in assists (11-4). Dominique Edwards and Crystal Daniels led Calumet with 13 points a piece.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a road date at Huntington (0-0).
