11/03/2013 – The two goal, one assist effort of Mikayla Goldsmith propelled the Saints to a 4-2 victory over Marygrove. The victory also secured the #3 seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament as the Saints concluded the regular season with a 11-5-1 mark and a 6-2-1 record in league play. The Mustangs finished the 2013 season with a 0-9 record in the WHAC and a 3-15 record overall. The Saints will now host the #6 seed Golden Eagles of Cornerstone (9-6-2, 4-3-2 WHAC) on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m. The Saints defeated the Golden Eagles back on October 12th by the score of 2-0.
The Saints, who trailed 1-0 at the intermission, needed a second half rally to nail down the victory. Hannah Jablonski's first career goal knotted the match at one during the 49th minute of play. The goal was assisted on by Goldsmith who would later give the Saints a one goal lead as she tallied her second goal of the season at the 53:27 mark. Casey Westveer was credited with her third assist of the season on Mikayla's goal.
The 61st minute brought about the equalizer as Jessica Trimmer's goal tied the score at two. With the game hanging in the balance it was once again Goldsmith who proved to be the difference maker. Mikayla's second goal of the match at the 75:18 mark came via an assist from Ryanne James. The Saints salted the game away on a converted penalty kick by Westveer with less than six minutes to play to preserve the victory.
The Saints out shot Marygrove 27-3 and held a 15-1 advantage in corner kicks.
