The Racers improved to 15-2-3 on the season, while the Saints fell to 15-4-1. Northwestern Ohio will now travel to Grand Rapids to play Davenport for a berth into the NAIA National Tournament.
The two teams met in mid-September with the Saints earning a hard fought 3-2 victory on the Racers home turf. Aquinas was looking to complete the season sweep and advance to the WHAC final, but unfortunately on this day the Racers controlled play and out shot the Saints by a 15-3 margin.
Northwestern Ohio's Peguy Ngatcha scored his 14th of the season to stake claim to the early lead. The Saints quickly responded as Aldony Mendez tied the score at one with his 19th goal of the season. Jonathan Spencer tallied the assist at the 33:17 mark of the first half.
The game winner came off the foot of Carlos Suarez, as his goal early in the second half gave the Racers the 2-1 advantage. An insurance goal was added late by Ngatcha to secure the two goal victory.
Craig Demshuk was credited with four saves in the defeat.
