Saints Stay Perfect

11/12/13 – The women's basketball team extended their season opening win streak to four games as they defeated Rochester by the score of 78-64. The Saints are now 4-0 on the season, while the Warriors fell to 3-5 overall. The Saints will now host Siena Heights (1-0) on Saturday at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. Tip-off will be at 1 p.m.

The Saints used a 20-5 run over the half's final eight minutes to break open a tied score. Coach Nash's crew entered the locker room with at 41-26 advantage over their guests from the East side of the state. The Saints outshot the Warriors 57%-40% from the field and forced 17 first half turnovers to aid in the earl lead.

Aquinas would build the lead to as many as 24 in the second half before the Warriors began to rally. Rochester would go onto outscore the Saints 30-20 over the games last eleven minutes, but Aquinas prevailed for the 14 point victory.

The Saints received an 18 point effort from Taelor Sanders to pace the Aquinas offense. Brooklynne Lane tallied 14 points, while Allison Heberlein scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Saints. Overall Aquinas forced 27 turnovers and shot 86% (18-21) from the free throw line.
