11/14/2013 – The duo of Molly Maynard and Michaela Ryan dominated play as the Saints advanced to WHAC quarterfinal play. The victory improved the Saints record to 24-9, while the Wolves concluded their season with a mark of 10-34. The Saints will now advance to a quarterfinal match with Northwestern Ohio (21-7) on Friday at 2:15 p.m. The four quarterfinal matches will take place at Madonna University in Livonia.
The Saints, who defeated the Wolves in straight sets seven days earlier, were looking for the same result in their last home contest of the season. Aquinas played flawlessly during the first set as the rushed out to an early lead and had an attack percentage of .565. The Saints cruised to a 25-10 win in set one and followed the effort up with a 25-14 decision in set number two. The Wolves made the third set interesting, but Aquinas was able to prevail down the stretch (25-20) to claim the straight set victory.
The Saints were led by Molly Maynard and Michaela Ryan. The dynamic duo recorded eleven and ten kills respectively. Nicci Thomas dished out 24 assists, while Rachel Sprenger was credited with 14 digs. Maynard also led the defense with four blocks.
