12/06/2013 – The first installment of the NAIA Learfield Director’s Cup standings has been released and Aquinas is currently in 14th place with 75 points. The first set of standings include the sports of men’s and women’s cross country. British Columbia (Canada) currently holds the top spot with 166 total points.
The Learfield Director’s Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports - six women's and six men's.
The Saints received 75 points for their fifth place finish in men's cross country at the NAIA National Championships in Lawrence, Kansas. Aquinas was the highest ranking WHAC institution in the first release. Indiana Tech checked in at #15 with 74 points, while Cornerstone was #29 with 34 points.
The next standings will be released on December 19th and will include the sports of men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.
