Women's Soccer Advances on Penalty Kicks

11/06/2010 – The women's soccer team advanced to the WHAC semifinal as the Saints defeated Madonna 4-2 on penalty kicks. Aquinas will now play at WHAC regular season champ, Cornerstone, on Wednesday with a trip to the WHAC final on the line.

The Saints drew first blood as Teresa Buiocchi scored in the fourth minute of play on a set up by Jaime Tomaszewski. Madonna drew even in the 30th minute as Trisha Bender found the back of the net. The two teams went the next 80 minutes with neither team being able to forge ahead setting up penalty kicks to decide who would advance. PK goals by Madeline Rammal, Jaime Tomaszewski, Matthea Brandenburg and Emily Wabich proved to be enough as Kelsey Duley did the rest as she stopped two of the four shots by the Crusaders.
