Saints Compete at Mike Lints Open

01/19/2014 – The men's and women's track & field teams competed at Grand Valley State as the Lakers hosted the annual Mike Lints Alumni Open.

Caleb Teachout's performance in the men's 600 meter proved to be one of many highlights for the Saints on the evening. Caleb claimed first place and recorded the fastest time in the NAIA (1:18.90). The time automatically qualified him for the NAIA Indoor Championships and also ranks him fourth nationally (all divisions).

Alvaro Romero, a senior from Peru, earned a pair of silver medals on the day. Romero placed second in the triple jump (46-8) and hit the "B" standard on his fifth attempt down the runway. Alvaro also earned second place in the long jump as he covered a distance of 22-10.5.

The middle distance men also received provisional qualifying efforts from Luke Hawley (1:55.81) and Tommy Willet (1:56.52) in the men's 800 meter. The sprint crew was anchored by the strong performance of Ryan Parminter (6.99) in the 60 meter final.

The duo of Erica Heston (5th - 60 meter hurdles) and Sydney Anderson (9th - 600 meters) led the women's team with top ten finishes.

The teams will resume competition this weekend as they travel to compete in a meet hosted by Findlay University.
