Women's Soccer Concludes Season

11/10/2010 – The women's soccer team fell one goal short in their attempt to knock off the #1 seed in the WHAC Tournament. Cornerstone defeated the Saints 3-2 to advance to the WHAC Championship against Siena Heights. The victory improves the Golden Eagles record to 11-6-1, while Aquinas' season comes to a close with a mark of 5-13-2.

Cornerstone struck quickly in front of the home crowd as Maile Carigon recorded a goal in the second minute of play. Ten minutes later the Golden Eagles extended their lead to two goals as Jen Kuipers found the back of the net. Aquinas found some momentum early in the second half as Jaime Tomaszewski netted a goal in the 50th minute of play. The comeback was short lived though as Cornerstone scored the eventual game winner off the foot of Ashleigh Lund. Tomaszewski added a late goal to make it 3-2, but that is as close as the Saints would come on this day. Kelsey Duley recorded seven saves in goal for the Saints.
