03/17/2014 – A quartet of women's basketball players were awarded Scholar Athlete honors for their work in the classroom by the NAIA. The members of the women's basketball team are above junior status and have an accumulated a G.P.A. of above 3.50.
Taelor Sanders, a fifth-year senior from Dewitt, Michigan will graduate with a degree in Sports Management and Business Administration and is currently working on her Masters degree. Carly Bardwell, a senior from Allendale, is currently finishing up her schooling in the Pre-Veterinary program. Allison Heberlein, who prepped at Lansing Catholic Central, is in her junior year and is majoring in Elementary Education. The final recipient is Chelsea Matley, a junior from Kalkaska, who is studying Physical Education.
The NAIA honored a total of 243 women's basketball players across the country with the 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award.
