03/19/2014 – Andy Struble of Aquinas College has been named the NAIA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Struble was selected based on his performances from March 10-16 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping award winners.
Struble, a sophomore from Holt, Mich., went 9-0 over the past week, helping Aquinas win 6-of-7 matches in Florida. He outscored his opponents 60-9 in his five singles matches and 32-2 in his four doubles matches with teammate Brendan Petz. His wins came in matches against St. Francis (Ind.), St. Ambrose (Iowa), NCAA Division II St. Cloud State (Minn.), NCAA Division I Monmouth (N.J.) and NCAA Division III Penn State-Berks (Pa.). On the season, Struble is 9-1 in singles matches and 9-3 in doubles matches.
Struble is the first of seven Men’s Tennis Players of the Week for the 2014 season.
