Sharples Shot Sinks Saints

01/05/2011 – UM Dearborn's Doug Sharples bucket with three seconds remaining was the difference maker as the Wolves defeated the Saints 62-61. The victory for UM Dearborn improves their overall record to 6-11 and are now 3-2 in the WHAC, while the Saints fall to 8-9 on the season and 1-3 in league play.

The Saints and Wolves were matched up in a tight game that saw neither team extend their lead to over seven points. Overall the contest saw 13 ties and twelve lead changes, with the biggest lead change happening in the final moments as the Wolves received the go ahead basket from Sharples.

UM Dearborn was fueled by a balanced attack that saw four Wolves score in double figures. Myke White was the catalyst for UMD as he scored 18 points, grabbed ten rebounds and dished out five assists. Jamell Hatchett carried the Saints as best as he could scoring 18 points and recording eight rebounds. Aquinas' three point shooting was their Achilles heel on this night as the Saints went 1-13 from behind the arc.

Aquinas will look to rebound on Saturday as they travel to Adrian to battle Siena Heights (8-9, 2-2 WHAC) at 8 p.m.
