Davenport Pulls Away in Second Half

01/15/2011 – The men's basketball team fell to the #16 ranked Panthers by the score of 78-62. The game was contested on the campus of Davenport University. The victory pushes Davenport's record to 18-3 on the season and 5-2 in the WHAC, while the Saints drop to 8-12 overall and 1-6 in league play.

The Saints jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and were looking to steal a road win versus one of the top contenders in the WHAC. Davenport settled in and the two teams went back and forth with neither team grasping control of the game. The Saints trailed the Panthers by the count of 35-30 at the half.

The Panthers kept the Saints at bay during the second half never relinquishing the lead. The Saints trimmed the advantage to three on a few occasions, but could never get over the hump. Davenport's 64% shooting from the field in the second half carried them down the stretch, as they put some distance on the Saints during the games final minutes.

Nathan Cox led three Panthers in double figures with 27 points, while the Saints were led by Damacious White's 24 points.

Aquinas will look to snap their four game losing skid on Wednesday as they travel to Livonia to battle Madonna (4-15, 2-5 WHAC).
