01/23/2011 – The women's basketball team completed the week with two wins as Aquinas defeated Marygrove in a non-conference game at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center 69-49. The victory improves the Saints overall record to 8-14 on the season, while the Mustangs record drops to 2-16.
The Saints gained control of this game early and kept the Mustangs at bay the rest of the way. The Saints converted on 16 of 22 (73%) two point attempts in the first half to gain a 35-21 lead at the half. Aquinas continued their fine play during the second half as the Saints controlled the boards (51-39) and dominated bench scoring (38-9).
Lindsey Karpowwicz led the Saints in scoring with 13 points, while Taelor Sanders nearly missed a triple-double with ten points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Clare Conway added ten points for the Saints and Vicky VanDyke contributed nine points and ten rebounds.
The Saints will begin a three game conference road trip this Wednesday as Aquinas travels to Lima, Ohio to battle the Racers of Northwestern Ohio (10-12, 3-6 WHAC).
