02/04/2011 – The men's basketball team could not steal a win down in Fort Wayne, as the Saints were defeated by the Warriors 58-44. The win improves Indiana Tech's record to 18-7 on the season and 9-3 in the WHAC, while the loss sends the Saints overall record to 9-16 and 1-10 in league play.
The Saints, who have now lost ten straight league games, once again had to rely on their defense to carry load. Aquinas recorded 32% shooting for the contest, including 6-24 (25%) during the decisive second half.
The Saints were playing well and were only trailing Tech by five at the halftime break. Aquinas cut the lead to two at the 16:30 mark of the second half and was sniffing an upset. However, the Warriors responded and put in their own 16-4 surge over the next five minutes to put the game out of reach. The Saints would get no closer than twelve the rest of the way.
Aquinas was led by Jake Shockey's eleven points and five rebounds.
The Saints will host UM Dearborn (8-17, 4-8) on Saturday at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center starting at 3 p.m.
