02/10/2011 – The men's basketball team suffered a home loss to Siena Heights last night at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. Siena Heights improves to 13-13 on the season and 6-6 in league play, while Aquinas drops to 10-17 on the year and 2-11 in WHAC play.
Aquinas, fresh off their record shooting performance against UMD, jumped out quickly on the Saints from Siena. A Matt Weiss basket at the 8:50 mark of the first half gave the Saints a 16-9 advantage. Aquinas maintained the lead until a late 12-0 run over the last two minutes of the half gave Siena the 34-25 halftime lead.
Aquinas would close the gap to six (42-36) on a basket by Damacious White, but turnovers and Siena's three point shooting broke the game open late. Siena sweeps the season series with Aquinas with the 66-51 victory at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
Matt Weiss led the Saints in scoring with twelve points, while Damacious White added ten points to the cause.
Aquinas will hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Ann Arbor to battle Concordia (15-12, 7-6) at 3 p.m.
