02/10/2011 – The Aquinas College women's basketball will be participating in the "PINK ZONE" program with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Fund for breast cancer research program.
This is a national program sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The festivities kick off on Saturday, Feb. 12, with an 11:00 a.m. women's alumni basketball game. Come and cheer on the past players in the program as they have an opportunity to showcase their skills on the "BO Court" in the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
At 1:00 p.m., the Saint's will take on Concordia University in their last home game of the season. Spectators are asked to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. There will be plenty of prizes and activities going on throughout the afternoon. Some of the prizes will include AQ sports apparel and a pink shuffle iPod. At the half-time of the women's game, there will be a recognition and prayer for all those who have been touched by cancer.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to wear pink on Friday, Feb. 11, and are encouraged to make a $5 donation to the Kay Yow Fund. Donations will be collected at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
