02/13/2011 – Jason Gust and Sandy Underwood's play lifts the Saints to an impressive road win at Concordia. The 85-71 victory improves Aquinas' record to 11-17 on the year and 3-11 in the WHAC, while the loss drops the Cardinals to 15-13 on the season and 7-7 in league play.
The Saints used a 19-4 spurt over a six minute stretch in the first half to give themselves a 31-15 advantage at the 5:26 mark. The Saints defense limited Concordia to 27% (7-26) shooting from the field during the first half. Aquinas shot 44% (17-39) to take a 38-25 lead into the halftime locker room.
Aquinas continued its fine play in the second half as Sandy Underwood's three point make at the 6:33 mark gave the Saints a 23 point lead. Concordia made one last run, but could not get any closer than eleven late in the contest. The Saints, who avenged an early season loss to Concordia, defeated the Cardinals by the final score of 85-71.
Damacious White led three Saints in double figures with 18 points. Sandy Underwood chipped in 15 points off the bench, while Jake Shockey scored 13 points and grabbed twelve rebounds.
Aquinas will host #12 Davenport (24-4, 11-3) on Wednesday at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center starting at 7:30 p.m.
