Saints Win Eleven Events, Men Break Record

02/13/2011 – The men's & women's track teams enjoyed a successful weekend of competition as the traveled to meets at Trine and Grand Valley State. The majority of the team headed south for a tune-up meet at Trine, while the Men's Distance Medley Relay competed at GVSU.

The foursome of Grant Gunneson, B.J. Klotz, Nick Thelen and Dustin Heiler teamed up to erase a school record that has stood since 1972. The Saints bettered the previous mark in the DMR by an amazing eleven seconds. The time of 10:05.95 is currently the third fastest time run in the NAIA this season.

The Saints also found success at the Trine Invitational as Aquinas accounted for eleven first place finishes. Gold medal performances were turned in by:

Nate Hicks - 200M Dash
Kolin Stickney - 800M Dash
Zach Schofield - Long Jump
Men's 4x200M Relay

Joordan Hall - 60M Dash
Brooke Fuller - 400M Dash
Jackie Katt - Mile
Emily Sarros - Pole Vault
Emily Smith - Weight Throw
Women's 4x200M Relay

Aquinas will return to action on Saturday as the Saints travel back to Angola to compete at the WHAC Championships which are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
