02/20/2011 – The men's basketball team closed out their season with a 61-46 win over the Crusaders of Madonna at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. The victory improves the Saints record to 12-18 on the season and 4-12 in the WHAC, while Madonna falls to 8-21 overall and 6-10 in league play.
The Saints fell behind by as many as 18 points and shot 28% from the field during the first half. For as bad as it was during the first half, the Saints responded during a dramatic second half turnaround. Aquinas outscored Madonna 48-17 during the second half which the Saints shot 52% from the field compared to 25% for Madonna. Aquinas scored the first 22 points of the second half and never looked back as the Saints went on to win 61-46.
Damacious White led three Saints in double figures with 20 points, while Tim Jensen and Matt Weiss chipped in with 17 and 15 points respectively.
The Saints finished the season on a strong note, but it was not enough to make the conference tournament. Siena Heights was defeated by UM Dearborn to keep Aquinas out of the WHAC tournament.
