04/08/2011 – The women's softball team traveled to Fort Wayne and lost two extra inning affairs to the Warriors. Indiana Tech improves to 24-8 overall and 5-0 in the WHAC, while the Saints drop to 21-9 on the season and 4-2 in league play.
The first game of the twin bill saw Aquinas jump out to an early 1-0 lead as Sam Klinkner singled home Lindsey Stewart in the first. Saints pitcher, Carlie Giarmo, was throwing the ball extremely well as she mowed down the first ten batters she faced. Tech did strike for a run in the fourth inning to tie the score at one. The score remained tied at one until the bottom of the ninth when Jenn Anderson's walk off two-run home run gave the Warriors the 3-1 victory in game one.
The second game from Memorial Park saw the Saints strike for runs in the second and third inning. Sadie Stowell and Heidi Holmes drove in runs for the Saints. The Warriors responded with a pair of their own in the fifth to tie the score at five. The Saints eventually endured the same fate as in game one with a walk off base hit in the ninth to give Indiana Tech the two game sweep.
The Saints return to action this weekend as they host Concordia and Madonna on Saturday and Sunday at Fuller Park.
