Saints Split Weekend Series

05/01/2011 – The softball team swept Concordia on Friday and were swept by Madonna on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Park. The Saints concluded their regular season with a 26-18 overall record and a 9-11 record in league play. The Saints own the #5 seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament, which will be played in Battle Creek starting on Thursday.

The Saints knocked out 18 hits and scored 13 runs in the first game of the doubleheader versus Concordia on Friday. Carlie Giarmo picked up the victory as the Saints defeated the Cardinals 13-4. Renee Tubergen went 4-4 and was credited with four RBI's. The Saints continued the offensive explosion in the second game as the Saints notched an 11-2 victory. Ashley White allowed two earned runs in seven innings of work, while Whitney Lubbers went 2-3 with three RBI's and two runs scored.

Saturday saw the Crusaders from Madonna take two from the Saints at Fuller Park. Madonna won game won by the count of 3-2. Renee Tubergen went 3-4 with an RBI, while Giarmo suffered the loss allowing three runs and five hits in seven innings of work. The Crusaders completed the sweep in the back half of the doubleheader by winning game two 8-5. Tubergen was once again the offensive star as she went 2-4 with four RBI's, including her 9th home run of the season. Ashley White was credited with the loss as she gave up four earned runs in five innings of work.
