NAIA Track & Field Recap: Day Two

05/27/2011 – The competition continued on Friday as the Saints earned All-American accolades in the 4x800 Meter Relay. The foursome of Nick Thelen, Grant Gunneson, Kolin Stickney and Dustin Heiler placed fourth with a time of 7:36.38. The time establishes a new school record, eclipsing the old record by over five seconds. Wayland Baptist won the event with a time of 7:33.37.

Ryan Helminiak placed 12th out of 29 competitors in the Men's High Jump. The sophomore from Manistee cleared 6-6.75 to earn a high placing in his first ever outdoor championships. The Women's 4x100 Meter Relay (Koenig, Dorko, DeStefano and Hall) placed 15th in a time of 48.81, while Joordan Hall (12.53) finished 16th in the 100 Meter Semifinals.

Freshman Rachael Steil advanced to tomorrow's final in the Women's 5000 Meter as she cruised a 17:36 to place fifth in her heat. Emily Smith and Lindsey Karpowicz will also compete tomorrow in the Women's Discus.
