Men's Soccer Outlasts Huntington and St. Francis

09/04/2011 – The men's soccer team returned home with a pair of victories over the Foresters and the Cougars. The Saints improved to 3-1 on the year, while Huntington fell to 0-3 and St. Francis (IN) dropped to 1-2 on the season.

After handing Huntington a 2-1 defeat on Saturday, the Saints were looking for the two game "Indiana Sweep" on Sunday. Aquinas quickly gained the 1-0 advantage on the Cougars as Logan Wagner headed the ball into the net as the St. Francis keeper came out of the box. The Cougars rallied and scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead deep into the second half of play. The Saints found the equalizer late as Tyler Fisher directed a cross into the back of the net during the 85th minute. As the Saints and Cougars played in overtime it was Billy Cremeans who scored the game winner five minutes into the extra stanza. Creameans break away shot found the far right bottom of the goal to give the Saints the 3-2 overtime victory.

The Saints will return to action next weekend as they travel to Canton, Ohio to play undefeated Walsh (1-0) and Malone (2-0).
