Saints Score Shutout Over Maple Leafs

09/15/2011 – The women's soccer team traveled to Goshen, Indiana and defeated the Maple Leafs by the score of 1-0. The shutout victory improves the Saints record to 4-3, while Goshen falls to 3-3 on the season.

The two teams were locked in a scoreless battle until the 39th minute when Maggie Keiffer lifted a corner kick to the front of the goal. Freshman Melissa Hogan found herself in perfect position and headed the ball into the back of the net. Hogan's goal was her third of the season, while Keiffer was credited with her third assist of the season. Offensively the Saints out shot the Maple Leafs 20-9, while reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week, Kelsey Duley, recorded five saves.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday as Aquinas will host Marygrove (3-3-2) at 1 p.m.
