Block Party at the Sturrus

10/13/2011 – The women's volleyball team defeated cross town rival Davenport in an exciting five set match. The victory improved the Saints record to 16-8 on the season and 4-1 in league play, while the Panthers fell to 15-8 overall and 3-2 in the WHAC.

The pivotal WHAC match-up, which was paired with a "Pink Out", lived up to the hype as both teams inspired play led to a five set heart stopper. The two teams split the first four sets (25-23, 22-25, 25-23, and 20-25) before the Saints prevailed 15-13 in the fifth and deciding set.

Allison Griffiths continued her fine play of late with 23 kills and four blocks. Jessica Bredeweg controlled the floor with 29 assists and ten digs, while senior Sarah LeClair led the Saints with 30 digs. Jackie Overton accounted for six blocks, including three of the solo variety.

The Saints will return to action on Friday as Aquinas will host #10 Indiana Tech (23-3, 4-0 WHAC) at 5 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
