10/26/2011 – The men's soccer team remains in contention for the WHAC title as Aquinas defeated Indiana Tech 3-0. The victory improves the Saints record to 13-3-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the league, while the Warriors fall to 9-5-2 on the year and are now 2-1-2 in the WHAC.
The Saints, who were in desperate need of a win, made all the right moves as they shutout their guests from Fort Wayne 3-0. Ian Sliger, a senior from Elk Rapids, scored his first goal of the season during the 16th minute to give the Saints the early 1-0 advantage. Michael Gagnon was credited with the assist on Sliger's eventual game winner. The Saints extended the lead during the 58th minute when Casey Higgason (7th goal of the season)added insurance goal number one. Casey's goal was set up by WHAC point leader, Tyler Fischer. J.C. Smith added the Saints third and final goal of the game during the 87th minute on a play ignited by Higgason.
The Saints will close the regular season portion of the schedule on Saturday with a key match-up versus Davenport (4-8-4, 3-0-1).
