11/20/2011 – The men's basketball team continued its non conference schedule with a tough match-up against Huntington University. The hot shooting Foresters improved to 6-1 with the win, while the Saints fell to 2-5 on the year.
Huntington used a 15-2 run over the last five minutes of the first half to break open a close game. The Foresters entered the halftime break with a 44-30 advantage over the Saints. The Saints deficit continued to mount as Huntington extended the lead to as many as 25 in the second half of play. The Foresters, who shot 61% from the field, connected on 11 of 17 three point attempts. The Saints were led by the trio of Tyler Moreland, Connor McCane, and Zach Eddy; all of whom scored 13 points for Aquinas.
The Saints will resume play this weekend as Aquinas will take part in the annual Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Tournament. The Saints will face Hope (2-0) on Friday and then tangle with the Knights of Calvin College (2-1) on Saturday. Both games will begin at 6 p.m. and this years tournament will be contested at Cornerstone University.
