Balanced Attack Leads to Victory

12/01/2011 – The women's basketball team opened WHAC play with a 73-56 victory at Lourdes. The road win improved the Saints record to 6-4 overall, while the Wolves fell to 4-6 on the season.

Aquinas cruised in their conference opener, as Coach Nash's crew made their inaugural trip to Sylvania, Ohio to battle the Wolves of Lourdes College. The Saints used a balanced attack to extend a nine point halftime lead to a 17 point victory.

Aquinas' Shelby Carter led the Saints with a game high 18 points. Carter converted on 9-13 of her field goal attempts. Allison Heberlein also played a starring role as the freshman from Lansing Catholic scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Clare Conway and Anne Marie Shumaker chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Saints will return home for a date with Northwestern Ohio (1-7, 0-1 WHAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
