12/03/2011 – The men's basketball team defeated Northwestern Ohio 57-53 to stay perfect in the WHAC. The Saints improved to 5-6 overall and are now 2-0 in league play, while the Racers fell to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The defenses stole the show as the Saints earned the all important road conference victory. The win lifts Aquinas into a three-way tie for first place with Davenport and Madonna. The trio stand at 2-0 after one week of WHAC play. Aquinas not only won the contest, but dominated the board war 49-33. Cole Moore's double-double (15 points & 14 rebounds) proved vital in the Saints four point win. Dustin Guthrie paced the Racers with 15 points.
The Saints will now switch their attention to the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone. The cross town rivals will renew their annual clash on Wednesday night at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center (4-6, 1-1 WHAC) at 7:30 p.m.
