01/12/2012 – The women's basketball team was defeated by Concordia at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center by the score of 76-64. The victory improved the Cardinals record to 15-3 on the season and to 6-2 in the WHAC, while the Saints fell to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in league action.
The Cardinals, who entered the contest ranked seventh in the country, methodically built a ten point halftime advantage. The Saints started quickly in the second half and narrowed the margin to a bucket on multiple occasions. Concordia converted their free throws down the stretch and made key stops against the Aquinas offense to preserve the victory. The combination of Hannah Sabol (24 points & 13 rebounds) and Brittany Simmons (20 points & nine rebounds) proved too much as Concordia won the game 76-64. Taelor Sanders paced the Saints with 19 points, while Allison Heberlein chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Saints receive no breaks from the schedule maker as Aquinas will now travel to #3 Davenport (17-2, 7-0 WHAC) on Saturday.
