Cornerstone Strikes Early and Often

01/29/2012 – The men's basketball suffered a road loss at Cornerstone by the count of 81-57. The victory improved the Golden Eagles record to 14-10 overall and to 8-4 in league play, while the Saints fell to 11-13 on the season and to 7-5 in the WHAC. Cornerstone is now perched in a second place tie in the WHAC standings, while the Saints find themselves in a three team log jam for fifth.

The combination of Cornerstone's nine first half three pointers and the Saints 25% field goal shooting led to an unforgiving 46-17 halftime score. The Golden Eagles continued their dominant play as the lead swelled to as many as 36 points in the second half. A late run by the Saints closed the margin to 24 before the final buzzer sounded, but the damage was already done. Cornerstone out shot the Saints (53%-35%) and held a 39-27 advantage in the rebound department. Zach Eddy led the Saints with ten points.

The Saints will need a short memory as Indiana Tech (17-5, 7-5 WHAC) will make the trip to the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center on Wednesday.
