Slow Start Dooms Aquinas

02/01/2012 – The women's basketball was defeated by Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne by the score of 64-53. The Warriors improved to 12-13 on the season and to 4-9 in the WHAC, while the Saints fell to 13-11 overall and to 6-7 in league play. Aquinas finds themselves in sixth place in the WHAC with five games remaining on their schedule.

A slow start on the offensive end led to a major uphill battle for the Saints. The Warriors took advantage and built a twelve point lead at the half. The Saints shot 24% for the half compared to 48% shooting for Indiana Tech. The Saints shooting woes continued in the second half and the Warriors built a twenty point cushion with nine minutes to play in the game. Aquinas found the touch late in the contest, but too little too late as the Warriors earned the home court victory 64-53. Taelor Sanders provided most of the offense as the junior scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Saints will look to end their three game losing skid on Saturday as they travel to UM-Dearborn (3-20, 2-11 WHAC) to battle the Wolves.
