02/16/2012 – The men's basketball team suffered a road loss to cross town rival Davenport 64-45. The victory improved the Panthers record to 26-3 on the season and to 16-1 in the WHAC, while the Saints fell to 15-14 overall and to 11-6 in league play. Aquinas currently finds themselves in a three-way tie for third in the league standings with one game remaining.
The Saints, who trailed Davenport 25-21 at the half, assisted the highly ranked Panthers by committing eleven first half turnovers. The lack of possessions led to eleven more field goal attempts by Davenport. Aquinas' defense kept the Saints close as the two teams headed to the locker room. The depth of Davenport proved vital during the decisive second half as the Panthers bench outscored Aquinas' 21-4. The advantage from beyond the three point arc also proved crucial as Davenport connected on 10-22, while the Saints converted 3-15.
Zach Eddy paced the Saints with 15 points, while Jake Shockey scored eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Saints will close the regular season with a road date with Madonna (17-12, 11-6 WHAC) on Saturday.
