Saints Find Offense, Notch 5-3 Victory

09/26/2010 – The women's soccer team offense was in high gear as the Saints defeated Bethel College 5-3 on Homecoming Saturday. The victory improves the Saints record to 3-7 on the season, while Bethel drops to 1-7 for 2010.

After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by Nicole Steller, the Saints responded with five unanswered goals to open up the 5-1 advantage. Goals by Jaime Tomaszewski and Mary Lothschutz in the first half gave the Saints a 2-1 lead at the break. The Saints second half started with a flurry as Teresa Buiocchi, Emily Wabich and Rebecca Underwood all recorded goals in a three minute span early in half number two. The Saints maintained the lead until two late goals by Bethel's Steller gave her a hat trick on the day. Kelsey Duley was credited with the victory as she recorded six saves. The Saints outshot the Cougars 19-13.

Aquinas will return to the field on Saturday as they travel to Cornerstone (5-4) to play the Golden Eagles in a non-conference affair.
