Big Day for McKinney, Middle Distance Men

03/03/2012 – The men's & women's track & field teams concluded day three of the indoor championships with six more All-Americans. The men's team finished the championships by placing 10th overall as a team.

Rumeal McKinney led the charge for the Saints with a second place finish in the 60 meter. McKinney, who missed first by .002, ran the second fastest time of his life (6.71).

The men's distance medlay relay (Grant Gunneson, Ray Bordeaux, Nick Thelen, and Dustin Heiler) placed third in a time of 9:52. The foursome eclipsed the previous school record by eight seconds and narrowly missed a national championship by one second.

Caleb Teachout, competing in his first national championships, earned All-American status in the 600 meter with a 5th place finish (1:20). Teachout also earned an All-American award for his work in the DMR prelim's.

Emily Smith competed in the shot put and placed 22nd with a throw of 40-1.5.
