04/09/2012 – The softball team earned a split of its four games down in Bourbonnais, Illinois over the Easter weekend. The Saints overall record now stands at 18-15 as they return to conference play on Wednesday at Cornerstone.
The Saints earned a victory over Judson on Friday afternoon as the Eagles committed five errors. Carlie Giarmo was awarded the victory in relief as she pitched three and two thirds of shutout ball. Torie Lowe keyed the 4-2 win as she went 2-3 with two RBI's. In the nightcap, the Saints fell victim to host Olivet Nazarene 7-1. The Tigers are ranked 13th in the latest NAIA coaches poll with a record of 36-6. Blucker of Olivet Nazarene earned her tenth win of the year as she allowed one run on seven Aquinas hits. Lindsey Stewert and Renae Tubergen both picked up two hits a piece, while Ashley White was awarded the loss.
The Saints fell to Davenport in the first game on Saturday as the two WHAC foes hooked up in a non-conference affair. The Panthers, Karlee Despres, kept the Saints in check as she allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out eight. Rebecca Shineldecker was handed the loss as the pitcher of record in the 5-3 setback for the Saints. Aquinas finished the tourney with a win versus McKendree 4-3. Carlie Giarmo picked up her second win of the weekend as she allowed two earned runs on nine hits. The Saints scored two runs in the sixth to earn the weekend split.
