Saints Finally Experience Some Home Cooking

09/30/2010 – The women's volleyball team made it back to back wins as the Saints downed Siena Heights tonight three games to zero. Aquinas played its first game of the season in its home away from home (Forest Hills Northern High School) in front of some volleyball starved fans. The anticipation of games in the new Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center has the entire Aquinas community abuzz. Tonight's victory evens the Saints conference record to 3-3 and improves their overall mark to 8-10. Siena Heights falls to 0-6 in the WHAC are currently 2-12 on the season.

Aquinas wasted little time as the Saints downed Siena in the first game 25-13. A balanced attack with contributions coming from Coach Rawles' entire lineup kept Siena Heights at bay the entire evening. Aquinas went on to close out the match with wins in both the second and third games (25-20 & 25-17).

The Saints were paced by the quartet of Chelsea Phillips, Mollie Lounds, Jessica Curtis and Kelly Fliestra, all of whom recorded eight kills apiece. Katie Vander Meer led the Saints with 27 assists, while Sarah LeClair recorded 13 digs for Aquinas.

Aquinas will return to action on Tuesday with a match at cross town rival Davenport (13-7, 5-2 WHAC).
