04/29/2012 – Freshman, Jordan Gerard from Hesperia cleared 15-3.5 to establish a new school record in the men's pole vault. The mark eclipsed the previous mark which was set in 2000 by Greg Mileski at 15-1. Jordan and the rest of the Saints stopped in Mount Pleasant over the weekend for one last tune-up before the WHAC Championships.
The Saints also received the fourth fastest 800 meter run in school history by fellow freshman, Caleb Teachout. On a cold and windy day in Mid-Michigan, Teachout posted a time of 1:54.23 to hit the provisional qualifier for the NAIA Nationals. In the following event on Saturday Caleb Uecker-Herman achieved the fourth fastest 400 meter hurdle effort in Saints history. Caleb's ran a personal best time of 56.05 to move up the list.
Aquinas finished the afternoon with dual victories in the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays and a 1,2,3 finish in the men's 3000 meter run (Gunnerson, Heiler, and Kring).
Aquinas will travel to Adrian on Thursday and Friday to compete for the WHAC championship. The men will look to better their second place performance from indoors, while the women will look to improve on their fourth place finish.
