04/29/2012 – After only winning one game in a decisive series in Adrian, the Saints conclude their season without advancing to the WHAC Tournament. Aquinas finishes the season with an overall record of 24-27 and a 12-15 mark in league play, while Siena Heights improved to 13-14 in the WHAC and to 27-23 on the season.
Saturday's doubleheader was cut in half because of a three hour rain delay. When the skies cleared the two teams squared off with the postseason tournament riding in the balance. Aquinas scored a pair of runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Ryan Grigonis and Allen Manyen. Siena came right back and knotted the game up in the fifth by adding two runs to the scoreboard. The score remained deadlocked until the 13th when Siena received a walk off single from Joe Williams. Caleb Ort pitched nine strong innings as he allowed two runs on four hits. Ort, who received a no decision for his efforts, also struck on eight Siena batters. Aquinas left ten runners on base and committed four errors.
The Sunday twin bill provided new life as Aquinas just needed a sweep to keep their postseason dreams alive. Unfortunately the dream was short lived as Siena's Brett Kuebler pitched a gem of a game to solidify Siena as the fifth seed. Kuebler allowed one run on eight hits to earn the victory. Vince Misiewicz suffered the loss for the Saints as he garnered six runs on seven hits during his six plus innings of work. Siena Heights won the game 7-1.
Aquinas finished the three game set with a 3-2 victory as Matt Krzykwa and Christian Potter stymied the Siena bats allowing two runs on three hits. Taylor Pawlanta's two run single in the fifth provided the offense with a much needed spark, while Brendan Penny pushed across Jimmy McDonagh in the top of the seventh with the go ahead run.
