09/05/2012 – The women's soccer team was stymied by Olivet Nazarene as the Saints fell to the Tigers 3-0 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The victory lifted the #7 team in the country to a record of 3-0, while the Saints fell to 1-2 on the season.
The Tigers, who have yet to surrender a goal this season, controlled the game right from the opening whistle. A goal by Katie Smith during the third minute of play gave the Tigers all they needed on this night. A second and third goal was added by Jordan Wallek in the 9th and 17th minute respectively. With the early advantage the Tigers controlled the ball and tempo the rest of the way allowing only two shots by the Saints.
Wendy Espejel recorded two saves in the victory, while Aquinas' Molly O'Conner surrendered three goals and was credited with four saves.
The Saints will look to get back in the win column on Friday with a home date versus Andrews College (0-3) at 4 p.m.
