Saints Defeated in Double Overtime

09/27/2012 – The men's soccer team team found themselves on the wrong end of 1-0 double overtime scoreboard versus cross town rival Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-0 in the WHAC and to 5-2-1 on the season, while the Saints fell to 6-3-1 overall and to 1-1 in league play.

Three weeks ago the two teams played a mirrored image game with the Saints prevailing 1-0 in double overtime. This time around the roles reversed and the Saints winning streak was snapped at five and the Golden Eagles grabbed a one game lead in the WHAC standings over the Saints.

Goalkeepers, Sweers and Brecken, kept both teams off the scoreboard for just over 105 minutes. Both keepers collected six saves, but it was Trevor Hunt who finally snuck one passed Sweers to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 victory.

The Saints will now host Madonna (4-4-1, 0-0-1 WHAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in its annual Homecoming game.
