10/03/2012 – The women's volleyball team was defeated by cross town rival Cornerstone in a non-league affair. The host Golden Eagles improved to 13-4 on the season, while the Saints fell to 4-11 overall.
The combination of a strong Cornerstone squad and a fired up student body dressed in 80's garb proved to much for the Saints on this night. The first set was played very even until a late rally by the Golden Eagles carried them to the 25-21 win. The following two sets were dominated by Cornerstone. The 22nd ranked team in the country outplayed the Saints to the tune of 25-15 and 25-20.
Aquinas' offense was led by Megan Toth who recorded nine kills. Nicci Thomas dished out 22 assists and tallied eight digs, while Hannah Mahoney also matched Thomas' eight digs.
The Saints will look to snap a seven match losing skid on Friday when they host Lourdes (7-15, 0-4 WHAC) at 7 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
