10/20/2012 – The men's soccer team was defeated by Indiana Tech on their home turf by the count of 2-1 on "Senior Day". Joey VanGessel, Billy Cremeans, Casey Higgason, Heath Somers, Kyle Dyke and Logan Wagner were honored by the coaching staff at halftime for their commitment and service to the Aquinas College men's soccer family. The victory improved the Warriors record to 8-4-2 on the season and to 4-1-2 in WHAC play, while the Saints fell to 6-2 in the league and are now 11-4-1 overall. The Saints find themselves in second place in the WHAC standings with two league games remaining.
Statistically speaking the Saints dominated every facet of the game except the final score. The Warriors were out shot by the Saints 26-8, but mustered two goals in the second half to secure the league victory. Zachary St. Aubin and Aultain Gaye both delivered goals in the 56th and 78th minute respectively. The Saints lone goal came way of an "own goal", as the Warriors inadvertently scored on themselves.
Reece Richardson came up big in net for the Warriors as he recorded ten saves, while Aquinas keeper, Mike Sweers notched two saves in defeat.
The Saints will now travel to Detroit on Wednesday to battle the Mustangs of Marygrove (5-8-3, 3-2-3 WHAC) at 4 p.m.
