Panthers Defeat Saints 3-0

10/25/2012 – The women's volleyball team was defeated by Davenport in straight sets on the Panthers home court. The victory improved Davenport's record to 24-5 on the season and to 7-2 in league play, while the Saints fell to an even 14-14 overall and to 5-4 in the WHAC. Aquinas remains in sixth place in the league standings with two matches remaining.

The Panthers, who currently hold down the fourth spot in the WHAC standings, had to hold off a feisty Saints squad that kept the match close throughout. In the end Davenport would prevail in straight sets (26-24, 25-18 and 25-23). The Saints were led by MacKenzie Kolstad's ten kills, while Nicci Thomas collected 25 assists. The defense was anchored by Jessica Bredeweg's 12 digs and Jen VanCuren's assisted on five blocks.

The Saints will return to action this weekend as they co-host the Aquinas/Cornerstone Crossover. Action from the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center will be at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
