10/10/2010 – The men's soccer team defeated Concordia 5-0 to open the conference portion of their schedule. The victory improves the Saints overall record to 10-3 and 1-0 in the WHAC, while Concordia drops to 3-7-1 overall and 0-2 in the league with the set back.
The Saints scored early and often against the Cardinals as Mike Vaughan got things rolling in the second minute of play with his seventh goal of the season. Mitch Torres and Casey Higgason both found the back of the net later in the half as they scored goals during the 30th and 36th minute respectively. Ruben Ornelas-Luna and Joey VanGessel were credited with the assists on the late first half goals.
The Saints extended the lead during the second half as Jeovani Pantoja scored his ninth goal of the year in the 60th minute. Patrick Drabik concluded the scoring for the Saints in the 89th minute of play as he recorded his first goal of his college career. Jesse Guevara-Lehker and Craig Demshuk combined to post the shutout for the Saints.
Aquinas returns to action on Wednesday as they host Cornerstone (4-5-2, 0-0-1 WHAC) at 4 p.m.
