10/30/2012 – The women's basketball team started the season on the right foot as they picked up a road win against Calumet St. Joseph 58-50. The victory improved the Saints record to 1-0 on the season, while the Crimson Wave fell to 1-1 overall.
The Saints used a balanced attack to deal Calumet St. Joseph their first loss of the season. Aquinas held a three point halftime lead and extended it into an eight point victory (58-50). The Saints outshot the Crimson Wave 40%-32% from the field and 61%-43% from the charity stripe.
Aquinas was led by Clare Conway who posted 15 points and nine rebounds. Conway converted on 6-12 field goals attempts and was 3-4 from the free throw line. Shelby Carter chipped in with nine points and eleven rebounds, while the duo of Allison Heberlein and Marisa Marx both hit double figures with ten points a piece.
The Saints will open their home portion of their schedule on Saturday as they host Huntington at 1 p.m.
